WSU's new gateway
The Brelsford WSU Visitor Center serves as the University’s gateway destination for out-of-town and local visitors, including prospective students and their families, alumni, and a variety of other guests.
The Visitor Center orients guests to WSU and serves as a resource for information about other attractions in the region. The interactive displays and wall graphics build public awareness, understanding, and support of the University’s life-changing teaching, research, and outreach activities.
Bridging the town and WSU
The Visitor Center sits near the junction of the WSU campus and downtown Pullman a the corner of Main and Spring streets. The location was chosen to recognize the historical significance and celebrate the vitality of the town-gown relationship that has existed between the City of Pullman and WSU for more than 123 years.
Capturing the spirit of the University
The three 15-foot-high concrete letters spelling out W-S-U are the most distinctive feature of the 4,224-square-foot facility. The top of the letter “U” supports the overhanging roof. The 40-foot-high lighted outdoor tower on the other end of the building, stands as a tribute to historic Bryan Tower.
Making sustainability a priority
All of the wood-based building materials used in the facility were developed using technology created by the WSU Composite Materials and Engineering Center, a recognized world leader in the development of sustainable composite materials. The Visitor Center is seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for the environmentally sustainable construction techniques employed in the building of the facility.
